Dr. Claudio Estève is the fourth generation of vegetarians in his family and the third generation of naturopathic doctors and physicians. On March 1, 2019, he was appointed President of the International Society of Naturopathic Medicine (ANBA/SIM), with the aim of promoting naturopathy worldwide, an objective supported by the WHO since 2014, which recognizes it as a comprehensive approach to health treatment. Dr. Estève also presides over the International Society of Naturopathic, Traditional, and Complementary Medicine (SIM), based in Argentina.

Naturopathy

It is the science that studies the properties and applications of natural agents (plant foods, medicinal plants, pure water, sun, earth, fasting, exercise, detoxification, lifestyle, thought, and oxygenation) with the aim of both maintaining and restoring health.

The German Dr. Benedict Lust was the first to use the term Naturopathy when he founded The American School of Naturopathy in New York in 1902. The school taught the use of natural remedies, good eating habits, and proper hygiene as tools to maintain and/or improve health. It was at this time that the principles of a healthy diet first gained prominence in the West. Dr. Benedict Lust was one of the principal teachers of Professor Juan Esteve Dulin, to whom he personally awarded the only Doctorate in Naturopathy for Latin America in 1934, signing it in his own hand. Other disciples of Dr. Lust included the famous Kellogg brothers, the Spaniard José Castro, and Dr. Herbert M. Shelton (all pioneers). ANBA is the first Naturopathic Association in Latin America (Argentine Naturopathic Association, 1919, an NGO dedicated to the dissemination of Naturopathy and the naturalistic lifestyle).

The word Naturopathy comes from the Greek words Naturo (nature) and Pathy (feeling, path), meaning "natural path." From this, the term "natural therapies" emerges. The Buenos Aires Naturopathic Association (ANBA) is a Founding Full Member of the World Naturopathic Federation (WNF), a great honor and a tremendous historical achievement for international naturopathy, which is currently experiencing a global boom due to public interest and the WHO's request for its inclusion in healthcare systems worldwide (WHA Resolution 62.13 2014-2026).

Naturopathic Medicine, as stated in the Charter of Naturopathic Physicians, is a therapeutic approach based on: Physiotherapeutic Principle. This principle holds that health is maintained by the body itself through its own systems and resources; in illness, these systems are activated, almost always tending toward healing and rebalancing. Current sciences such as immunology, microbiology, and general systems theory support this medical interpretation. Methodological Aspect. Without ruling out any type of therapy that may help the patient, and prioritizing the possible therapies, those whose application has led to techniques recognized and proven for their therapeutic efficacy are most used, such as: Phytotherapy, Balneology, Climatology, Heliotherapy, Geotherapy, Thermotherapy, Hydrotherapy and Medical Hydrology, Kinesiotherapy, Diet Therapy, manual mobilization techniques and therapeutic massage, environmental care and attention, health education, modification of habits and psychological and bioenergetic resources.
